President’s Report
Old Business
- Website continues to have changes made. Some enhancements to come are an interactive business directory, membership application links, etc…
New Business
- Street sweeping needs to be done to keep neighborhoods in best possible shape for both esthetics & health reasons. We were reminded by David Lynch that we have a towing association available to us and it only takes a call to get cars moved that have remained still.
- A question was asked about the homes which were damaged/gutted on South Street and what will happen. Chief Williams reminded us that insurance investigations take awhile to process but most likely 1 would be rebuilt and 1 would be repaired. Rob May & Tom Thibeault both said that it should be rebuilt to the specs it was due to the historic zoning.
Secretary’s Report
- Reminder that the next Campello Public Workshop is on 6/28 at South Middle School from 6-8pm. They will be collecting feedback & input about Urban Design principles & how they relate public & private spaces, and what we envision the Campello Neighborhood to look like.
These are great forums to make your voice heard whether as a business owner, resident, or property owner. Take ownership of what is happening and be part of what can be.
- The Phantom Gourmet will be filming in Campello at the Italian Kitchen on Wed 6/28 from 2p-6p. All our invited to come down & be part of the action- maybe wear some swag from your favorite business for free publicity!

· Receipt of $100
· Debit of $230
· Ending balance $38323.01
Motion to accept report accepted.
Guest Speakers
An Update on Brockton Hospital
It’s a matter of balancing projects & resources.
Efforts continue with rebuilding- some examples of what has been done or will be done
- They are proud of the fact they were able to keep all 300 employees working with no layoffs during this time by setting up a job agency and having people work at other locations, making them available for when they are ready.
- 2 Urgent cares were set up almost immediately (which would normally take 9 months!)
o 650 Center St which is 24/7 (moving OB/GYN space) which is seeing appx 65 patients/day
o 110 Liberty St which is 7a-7p (moving Eye services) which is seeing appx 45 patients/day
- Mission possible project continues to go ahead with plans for a new ER, labs, etc….
A few words from the Planning office
- Reminder about the public forum again Wed 6/27 & the importance of our voices being heard.
- To try to involve residents that are unable or unwilling to attend the forums at night the office is hoping to organize an event on Saturday 9/16 which will have music, food from local restaurants, and tents which will have information about the project. They are hoping to get co-sponsors to support both financially & with attendance such as the CBA, local businesses, property owners, etc…
A discussion occurred regarding what kind of businesses would draw the most people into Campello & what would be the best use of space & zoning.
Councilor Update
- Gilmore School needs support to clean up the baseball field, and maybe even setting up a snack shack. Any ideas? Any volunteers? PLEASE HELP!
